GQSP Indonesia's 5th Steering Committee Meeting

1. 5th SCM GQSPIndonesia

The 5th Steering Committee Meeting (SCM) of the Global Quality and Standards Programme (GQSP) Indonesia SMART-Fish 2 was successfully conducted virtually on 24th February 2022. Officially opened by the Director-General of Product Competitiveness (DG PC) of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) Ibu Artati Widiarti, the meeting was attended by over 80 participants representing the agencies under MMAF (DG PC, DG Aquaculture, Marine and Fisheries Human Resource and Research Development / BRSDM including Jakarta Technical Fisheries University/Poltek AUP and Fish Quarantine and Inspection Agency), as well as representatives from the National Standardization Agency (BSN), and from the programme partners / ollaborators.

The SECO delegation was comprised of Mr. Philipp Orga, the Head of SECO Indonesia accompanied by National Programme Officers of Economic Development Cooperation, Ms. Dine Chandra Devi. Meanwhile, the UNIDO was represented by Mr. Esam Alqararah, UNIDO Representative for Indonesia and Timor Leste, Mr. Steffen Kaeser, the Programme Manager GQSP, and Mr. Nima Bahramalian, the Programme Manager for GQSP Indonesia of UNIDO, Vienna as well as the staffs of GQSP Indonesia and the national experts. Dr. Trisna Ningsih MSi, Director of Processing and Quality Development, welcomed and thanked the delegates for attending the meeting. She appreciated the outputs have been achieved by the programme as a result of good cooperation between MMAF, UNIDO, SECO, BSN and partners as well as Local Fisheries Agencies (DKP), partners and other stakeholders. During the meeting, some programme’s achievement were highlighted and SECO confirmed its continued supports for the programme extension (GQSP Indonesia Phase 2) starting 2023.

2. IndoGAP:

Following assessment by KAN for accreditation of 3 LSPro at BBPBAT Sukabumi, BBPBAP Jepara and BPBAP Takalar held last year, two LSPro have been accredited by KAN namely LSPRo in BBPBAP Jepara and BBPBAT Sukabumi, while LSPRo Takalar has yet to be accredited up to date. With the accreditation the IndoGAP certification can be implemented technically.

3. MoU with Lampung:

The MoU between DKP Lampung Province and GQSP Indonesia was signed on 9 February by Head of DKP Lampung and NCTA GQSP Indonesia. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Director of Processing and Quality Development of DG PC, Ibu Dr Trisna Ningish MSi, Director of Application Standards of BSN, and Deputy Head of SECO Indonesia, Representative of DG Aquaculture, BKIPM, Extension Center, and Fisheries Offices across Lampung province. Total of 77 participants attended MoU ceremony both online and offline. The collaboration focuses on up-scaling SOPs in Lampung and also on MSMEs support for certification (HACCP, GMP and IndoGAP). After the signing ceremony a training was organized on post-harvest handling participated by 50 MSMEs across Bandar Lampung.

4. Indonesian Shrimp Brand launch

Jointly organized by MMAF, GQSP Indonesia, SIPPO and AP5I and in collaboration with various International NGOs, Indonesian Shrimp Brand was launched on 18/11 by the HE Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Bapak Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and HE Ambassador of Switzerland to Indonesia, Timor Leste and ASEAN Mr. Kurt Kunz and the Chairman of AP5I Mr. Budhi Wibowo. Held in the MMAF’s Ballroom and attended by around 100 reps from different agencies under MMAF, UNIDO, Swiss Embassy, NGOs, associations and press, the launch was held back to back with Buyer-Supplier Gathering and the launch of MMAF’s website IndonesiaSeafood.id, digital platform to promote the country seafood. Around 50 buyers from US, Europe and Asia joined the event on-line. Ibu Artati Widiarti, the DG of Product Competitiveness of MMAF, gave overview on the latest development on the seafood industry in Indonesia and the government commitment for providing safe, sustainable and traceable seafood products.

5. SECO’s Visits to GQSP Partners

SECO team of Swiss Embassy (Pak Philipp Orga and Bu Dine Chandra) visited programme’s partners in Jakarta, Lampung, Karawang and Pemalang recently. The visits went well and successful thanks to good arrangement, excellent collaboration and supports from our experts as well as partners in the fields. All together 14 visits were organized namely 1 in Jakarta (Poltek AUP, 9/11); 6 visits in Lampung 15-16/11 (shrimp farm, shrimp hatchery, artemia plant, Provincial Fisheries Office/DKP, milkfish farm and shrimp trader); 5 visits in Karawang on 22/11 (Poltek KP Karawang, pangasius farm, pangasius processing plant, seaweed cooperative warehouse, seaweed farm); 2 visits in Pemalang 23/11 (milkfish farm, KPD Cooperative & its handling/trading facilities). SECO team were in general very satisfied with the visits as they could directly see the results of the programme's activities in particular results of piloting SOPs and talked to the partners and they have better understanding on the technical aspects of the programme's activities. Officials from MMAF, namely from DG PC, DG Aquaculture and BKIPM also partly joined the visits.
